This Descript podcasting app audiovisual editor is a great tool for podcasters and is a good video creator. Regarding their in-studio recording, you can easily edit out 'ums' and 'ahs' - you know, the filler words - with a click of your mouse. It's easy to edit out word gaps, too.
You can also use a variety of audio and video effects to enhance your recordings. Descript also makes it easy to record voiceovers, add music tracks, and create an engaging podcast that people will want to listen to.
All of these tools make Descript a good choice for anyone looking to get their podcast up and running in no time.
Descript is an audio and video recording platform that allows users to quickly create, edit, and collaborate on recordings. It uses the latest AI technology to automatically transcribe audio files into text, saving you the tedious task of manually typing subtitles. (Been there, done that, hated it).
Descript also offers a wide range of tools for editing audio and video recordings, including easy-to-use timeline editing tools that allow users to quickly merge clips together or add effects like fades. With its integrated collaboration features, users can collaborate on projects with remote team members in real time.
If you are doing a video podcast, being able to edit out mistakes is priceless. The editing process is simple. Just edit the scenes. There's no need to sync the video content with the audio files in the timeline tracks.
Descript also offers green-screen video recording. Add your own background or pick an image after you've finished recording. That's not to say you can't have your own green screen hanging on the wall behind you.
Their AI Green Screen technology removes the background. I still had fuzzy edges around my shoulders and hair. Always remember to keep your hair combed smooth (even use hair spray!) Or wear a hat.
You can also add text and graphics as overlays, adjust lighting, and apply filters. With Descript’s drag-and-drop editor, you can quickly move clips around in the timeline to create a seamless video podcast.
If you make a mistake during recording and you only realize it upon playback, you can quickly correct your video files without having to re-record. That saves time and money!
The reason why you can quickly fix errors is due to this interesting feature about Descript: you clone your own voice. They provide a script that you read. It records as you speak and it learns your voice.
Start talking, and it takes about 10 to 20 minutes to gain a very realistic clone of your voice. You are prompted to say that the voice is your own, and won't ever be used for nefarious reasons.
I edited my transcribed output; not sure if that was the right thing to do. I don't know if it learned my accent properly or not.
To correct an audio talking error, let's say you said brown "cat" instead of brown "dog," you can simply change the word "cat" to "dog." Yes, change the WORD. You don't have to drag out your mic and re-input ONE word. By typing in the replacement "dog" word, you'd hear your voice saying "dog" because "cat" was overtyped/replaced. It's that easy.
Visually, "dog" and "cat" are pretty much the same (though I'm sure sign-language people will totally disagree with me there - no disrespect meant at all!) But a one-word change isn't noticeable upon playback, visually. Really.
When making the word change, Descript takes note of your tone of voice prior to the word change, and after the word change. It will make the new word "fit" so that it flows and sounds natural upon playback.
Descript also has an audio editor background noise removal tool. It takes out annoying AC and appliance noises and makes it sound like you're in a studio. That feature is aptly called "Studio Sound." A vast improvement in audio quality!

I'm not sure if it was in beta when I was a customer. However, I had issues with the platform not recording my voice and it was too painful (and time-consuming) to keep re-recording. Sometimes the transcription would work, other times not. I gave up.
That's NOT to say that those "bugs" haven't been fixed by now. Descript truly is worth checking out even with the free version! Edit out wrong words in a single click, create podcast episodes, and take advantage of their live collaboration.
